ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inga Edu (b. 1978) is a Moldovan contemporary artist living and working in Chisinau. Inga graduated from Academic liceum of Fine Arts “Igor Vieru” and Faculty of  Fine Arts and Design UPS “Ion Creanga”.  She is a member of Union of Artists from Romania and Moldova.

She works in easel painting, oil, and pastels technique. This is the story of an artist who believes that she can change the world with her paintings filled with beautiful nature. Inga’s art focuses mainly on nature that surrounds us: sunrise, sunset, mysterious night, seasons, city, trees, people, and old towns.

Artist Statement

Inga Edu is a Moldovan contemporary artist living and working in Chisinau. Inga graduated from Academic liceum of Fine Arts “Igor Vieru” and Faculty of  Fine Arts and Design UPS “Ion Creanga”.  She is a member of Union of Artists from Romania and Moldova.

She works in easel painting, oil, and pastels technique. This is the story of an artist who believes that she can change the world with her paintings filled with beautiful nature. Inga’s art focuses mainly on nature that surrounds us: sunrise, sunset, mysterious night, seasons, city, trees, people, and old towns.


Inga’s favorite theme is the architecture of old towns. She conveys the mystery and unique traits of medieval cityscapes keeping the secrets hidden by history. The world, which existed in the past, appears on her paintings.

Another theme of Inga's work is flowers and angels. 2019-2020 years was year of flowers and angels and he create many decorative compositions with angels and flowers.


The works are created in post-impressionism style, which is currently being transformed into another series of works in a different style that is gradually changing towards Fauvism.


Inga was born in 1978 in sunny Moldova. Her works were exhibited at numerous solo exhibitions in Moldova, Romania, as well as Italy and Germany.The key Solo exhibitions were held in 2003- Vila San Lorenzo al Prato, Sesto Fiorentino, Florence Italy; 2003- in Romania at Palace of  Shutsu, Bucharest ; 2007, 2017- Museum of Art, Ploiesti; 2016- Pelisor Castle, Sinaia;  2007,2010, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019 - UAP Art Gallery, Ploiesti; 2019- Germany at Clemens Gallery, Solingen.


Inga has won several awards, among which are: 2020 – 1 st Prize at the Art Biennale ”Gheorghe Petrascu”, Targoviste, Romania;  2012 – The  Award for promoting Art between Romaina and Moldova, Club Rotary RO; 2005-  The Writers Union Awards for illustration ; 2003-  3rd prize Width Union Award for young visual artists.


Inga's works are kept in the public collections in Romania at the Shutsu Palace (Bucharest), the Museum of Art(Ploiesti), the Pelisor Castle(Sinaia), as well as in private collections in Romania, Ukraine, Austria, Italy,Canada, USA, Russia, Norway, England, United Arab Emirates, and Ireland.
